About Leicester City Women

Leicester City Women Football Club is the official English women's football club affiliated with Leicester City F.C. We also run a Reserves and Development sides and are launching the Leicester City Women Development Centre for the 2016/17 season.

Forming in 2004, LCWFC have been running for just over 10 years, during which time, 4 successive promotions saw them rise up to the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division, peaking in 3rd place consecutively from 2009/10 to the 2011/12 season. During the 2012/13 season Leicester City Women struggled in the league and were unfortunately relegated on the final day of the season.

In the 2013/14 Midlands Combination League, Leicester were unlucky not to get promoted at the first time of asking, missing out on the Championship to a strong Copsewood side who went throughout the season unbeaten until defeat to Leicester City on the final game of the season. Throughout the 2012-14 period, Leicester went through a number of managerial changes, with Adam Smallman, Stuart Wilson and Dan Bale taking the helm at some point during the 2 years.

Now in the reformed FA Women's Premier League Midlands Division One, Leicester City Women FC started the 2014/15 season strongly and entered a tight two horse race with Loughborough Foxes for the title, after a closely fought 3-3 draw at home, Loughborough Foxes secured the points they needed to lift the title, meaning Leicester City, finishing 2nd again, would contest the 2015/16 season in the Midlands Division One.

Midway through the 2014/15 season, Leicester City announced Jonathan Morgan as the new first team manager, having ended the 2013/14 season as the LCWFC Reserves manager, Jonathan made the step up to first team management as part of a trio of coaches at the start of the season. However in mid October, Chairman Rohan Morgan made the decision to announce Jonathan as the manager whilst Ryan and James became assistant managers.

Towards the end of the 2014/15 season, Ryan and James left the LCWFC set up and Jonathan set about assembling the current managerial team, with Andy Leith taking over as the reserve team manager.

In Autumn 2014, Leicester moved to their new ground at Riverside Pavilion, having spent the first 10 years of their existence moving around grounds in Leicestershire. The 2015/16 season will be the club's first season in a ground they can finally call home.

Over the years the Leicester City Women FC has seen 20+ players involved with the International set up at various youth levels and continuously strives to produce more. Most notably Ex Captain Remi Allen gained over 20 caps at International level and won a European Gold Medal

Leicester Women City are a hardworking side that take nothing for granted and strive to be professional in every aspect possible. This includes ensuring we have the most qualified and experienced coaches to develop players at youth level with 8 Level 3 coaches, 1 Level 3 GK coach and 3 Level 2 coaches, a Chartered Physiotherapist and an Exercise Scientist. We also have access to quality training facilities including 3g training pitches and an excellent home ground at Riverside Pavilion.
