About Martin's Wood

A 4.75 ha site in picturesque Charnwood adjacent to Beacon Hill, Martin's Wood was purchased with considerable finacial help from the Friends of Charnwood and is named after their late President, Sir Andrew Martin.

The woodland design complements the characteristic Charnwood landscape.

Existing shelterbelts and dry stone walls have been retained and magnificent views maintained by leaving open rides and glades.

The area nearest to the road is managed as a hay meadow.

Other features include:

  • Parking nearby - in the pay-to-park Beacon Hill Country Park car park where there are also toilet facilities.
  • Public access
  • Grassland
  • Broadleaved woodland
