About Shilcraft

Shilcraft is an 11ha woodland planted in 2003, with fine views of the surrounding landscape from its hilltop position near Stanton under Bardon.

The wood comprises mixed broadleaved trees - mainly oak, ask and birch with rowan, cherry and alder. Two hundred Wildstar Cherry (a fast growing and more disease resistant variety of wild cherry) are planted in one corner. A pond in the centre of the site provides habitats for aquatic species. Bat and bird boxes provide roosting and nesting sites.

Horse riding is available on a permit basis and a new bridleway link has been made to the adjoining Partings Wood.
