My Active Menopause

A 2 week programme introducing physical activity for women during and after the menopause. 30% of women drop off from physical activity during menopause, yet 71% want to be more active. Physical activity can help women manage and cope better with their symptoms, and so menopause is a significant opportunity to re-introduce and support physical activity behaviours.

My Active Menopause

Date(s): Thursday, 28th September & Thursday, 5th October 2023.

Join a community of like-minded women on Thursday, 28th September and Thursday, 5th October for our first 'My Active Menopause' 2 week programme. These sessions are led by specialist menopause instructors and are designed to educate and empower you around being more physically active in ways right for you.

Week 1 will focus on menopause yoga, where Paula will begin with information around the menopause including common symptoms, recommended nutrition and treatment options, before taking us through a yoga session centred around breathing techniques and meditation. The session will focus on relaxation and restoration. It will finish with an opportunity to share experiences as a group.

Week 2 will focus on strength and resistance for the menopause, where Kate will take us through an introduction to the importance of strength and resistance for menopausal women. We will explore what you should be feeling and why, tips on maintaining proper form, the importance of breath work, and information regarding wider mental and physical well-being. Plus, you will get the chance to try some fundamental exercises with resistance bands.

Our instructors are qualified, friendly, and available to answer any questions you may have after the events, and you will be part of a supportive group of like minded women.

After week 2, we will share with you resources for aerobic, strength and pelvic activity, as well as further opportunities to access free taster session and / or menopause specific sessions.

What you can expect:

  • Guidance and re-assurance from menopause professionals on how physical activity can help to manage menopausal symptoms
  • Women coming together to share their experiences, laugh and learn from each other
  • Access to free menopause resources and further opportunities for free taster sessions/local activity
