What is HAF?
Holiday Activities and Food programme or HAF is gives eligible children the opportunity to access 6 weeks of free activities and food spread over the Easter, summer, and winter school holidays.
Eligible children can access 6 weeks of free activities and food spread over the Easter, summer, and winter school holidays.
Activity programme normally take place over 4 hours a day for 4 days. However, some of the HAF providers offer flexible programmes that may run for longer hours over less days, or shorter hours over more days.
Each eligible child will also be given a nutritious and healthy lunch on each programme day that they attend.
The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education.
Who is this for?
All school aged children from reception to Year 11, in receipt of benefits related free school meals are eligible for:
up to 4 free HAF sessions over the Easter and Christmas holidays, and
up to 16 free HAF sessions over the summer holidays
To make it easier for families to access their free HAF places this summer, we will be working with schools to issue Holiday Activities e-vouchers directly to parents/carers of eligible children.
If you have an eligible child, you will receive an email and/or text from Hello@holidayactivities.com in the run up to the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays, providing a link to their eligibility e-voucher.
The voucher includes a link to Leicestershire's HAF webpage where you'll be able to find details of the providers offering HAF for that holiday and their booking information. The voucher also includes a unique eligibility code for you to share with your chosen HAF provider when you book your place.
How to register?
Registration is required to be made by a deadline date. A registration form becomes available leading up to the school holiday.
Places are only allocated to children once their eligibility has been confirmed.
Programme places have limited space and will be offered on a first come first served basis to children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
Inclusive provision-
HAF programmes are available to eligible children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and our providers endeavour to meet all children's needs. Please provide as much information as possible about your child's needs when completing your registration form.
Our programme providers will contact you prior to the start date to discuss your child's needs and to plan for any adjustments that are required. If a provider is not able to meet your child's needs, we will signpost you to alternative provision that may be more suitable.
