Inspiration at home

Sometimes it's really hard to get motivated or inspired to exercise. It always helps me to have someone to exercise with. Whether it is meeting a friend for a walk, or going to the gym with my husband- not wanting to let the other person down means it is far more likely that I will go out and exercise.

I am also lucky that we have a dog, who is always keen to go out, and I also go for walks and jogs with my children.

My son Alex- (who agreed to be photographed for this blog)- is autistic. He finds that exercise is very positive for his mood and we plan in regular walks and jogs together. As he enjoys a routine, a planned activity is always going to happen and we both benefit from these. Over the last couple of years, when Covid stopped us from doing other things, we've walked miles and miles and both been happier and healthier as a result.

My top tip for getting (and staying) active would definitely be to involve family and friends and to make a regular commitment with someone you know won't let you down.
