Meet Heidi

Heidi rekindled her passion for being active into adulthood.

Heidi from North West Leicestershire

Heidi's relationship with physical activity has seen its ups and downs over the years. She used to be a swimmer at County level, and proudly represented England Universities in water polo.

Into adulthood, Heidi has dipped in and out of the world of physical activity. In 2011, when her aunt was terminally ill, she made a pivotal decision to participate in in a 10km Race for Life event. This marked the beginning of her journey as a regular runner and volunteer coordinator for her local parkrun.

Following this, Heidi rekindled her love for swimming, took up cycling, and even ventured into her first sprint-distance triathlon. The experience and thrill of taking part motivated Heidi to build up to completing an ion distance triathlon in both 2015 and 2016.

Various factors, such as a broken wrist, the pandemic, her dedication to coaching, and the onset of perimenopause took a toll on Heidi's fitness levels. Despite this, she has maintained an active lifestyle, and believes it's important to fit into physical activity into your schedule, no matter how big or small.

Heidi suffers from social anxiety, which poses a challenge for her when being active in a group environment. Despite these hurdles, Heidi is deeply passionate about supporting others to embrace physical activity for the physical and mental well-being it offers.

Heidi now coaches triathlon for both adults and juniors, actively engages in a community woodland management group, participates in local fitness classes, and relishes walking her dogs. It's now Heidi's mission to motivate other local residents throughout Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland to introduce physical activity into their lifestyle, in any way that they can.
