Michael from Melton
Michael classes himself as a reluctant commuter, and in April 2023 took on a new role at work, resulting in him spending more time in the office and in meetings than ever before. Michael's new role required travelling across multiple locations and venues throughout Leicestershire, which presented him with a great opportunity to travel as actively as possible.
In Michael's unique position of wanting to increase his movement time, he decided to start having 'walking meetings' rather taking a virtual call. Since making this decision, over the past year Michael has managed to increase his walking activity to ensure an average of 200 active minutes per week.
It is often on these walks between meetings where Michael can evaluate the meeting, de-stress after some tough decisions, or work on other clever ideas that business partners may be interested in.
Michael's efforts to increase his active minutes culminated in a challenge alongside his wife to visit as many work venues in one day. This resulted in a 29 mile walk across Leicestershire, visiting 50 venues in 12 hours and 64,000 steps towards active living.
