Meet Evie

Evie regularly swims to improve her mobility

Evie from Hinckley & Bosworth

Evie was born with cerebral palsy following a premature and complicated delivery, which caused delays to most of her early milestones, particularly walking. Evie wears splints in her day to day life in order to help with her mobility. She has also had botox injections and has twice had casting to increase her range of movement - but these setbacks have never stopped her from being active!

Despite struggling to keep up with her peers, Evie has always loved sport and physical activity, as she used to take part in football, tennis, dancing and gymnastics. Evie is now a proud and important member of both Hinckley Swimming Club and the Leicester Penguins Swimming Club, where she attends the disability training sessions. Her involvement in these sessions has allowed her to compete (and win) multiple swimming gala's and para swimming competitions throughout the East Midlands. Evie loves attending and competiting in competitions as she no longer feels different to everyone else.

Winning medals at numerous events has given Evie a huge confidence boost, which has drastically improved her mental health and self-belief.
