About Braunstone Park

The 168 acres of Braunstone Park are a reminder of Braunstone’s pastoral heritage with large areas of well-established open parkland, woodlands spinneys and meadows. Includes Outdoor Gym Equipment.

Numerous meandering paths enable visitors to stroll and enjoy the park's many delightful aspects. Two lakes on the southern boundary attract a wide variety of wildlife including migrating birds. Formal gardens include a WW2 memorial garden, a Walled Garden and Azalea Garden.

The park is easily accessible for use by schools and groups for nature rambles and conservation studies and a small museum which opens on special occasions.

The large grassed areas attract a variety of recreational activities and sporting activities.

Four sections that include:

  • Braunstone Park adult gym - 11 pieces of equipment that focus on fitness and agility
  • Braunstone Park trim trail area 1 - four pieces of equipment, mainly resistance type machines
  • Braunstone Park trim trail area 2 - four pieces of equipment, designed to test your agility
  • Braunstone Park young peoples gym - 10 pieces of equipment, tests agility and fitness.

The Active Leicester: BRF project offers residents of the Braunstone and Rowley Fields ward of Leicester City aged 14+ the opportunity to take part in free sport and physical activity sessions; all delivered locally by supportive 'Activators'.
