Healthy Tots Award

An early years health promotion programme designed to encourage settings to promote healthy lifestyles.

Leicestershire Healthy Tots

Leicestershire Healthy Tots is an early year's health promotion programme designed to encourage settings to promote healthy lifestyles as well as becoming health promoting environments. The programme aims to achieve this by working in partnership with Early Years settings and key stakeholders across Leicestershire to deliver an evidence-based programme that meets the health and wellbeing needs of our early years settings and communities. The Healthy Tots scheme focuses on four core health themes:

      • Healthy Eating
      • Physical Activity
      • Emotional health and wellbeing
      • Oral Health

Within each core health theme settings will add evidence on the following criteria areas:

  • Policy Development
  • Learning
  • Early Years Culture
  • Children's Voice
  • Links with parents, the wider community and support services
  • Staff CPD, Health and Wellbeing

The resources section on Active Togethers Active Tots page and the generic Physical Activity training will help practitioners work towards the criteria for the physical activity section.
