Communities can come in all shapes and sizes and mean different things to different people, for example it could be a neighbourhood, a workplace or a group of people.
There are many groups, organisations and individuals that work in and support communities – these can play an important part in getting people and leading a healthier lifestyle.
This section will support the professional sector, groups, workplaces, care settings and individuals to creative active and healthy communities.
'Let's Get Moving' aims to motivate you, me and every resident across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland to move more. Through use of the 'Let's Get Moving' Strapline and assets with the Supporter's Hub, we want to bring together those partners who want to support our residents to move more.
The Chief Medical Officer's Physical Activity Guidelines reinforce the importance of physical activity and we have produced localised leaflets of the Chief Medical Officer's Infographics explaining the physical activity needed for general health benefits at different life stages.
The Get Active Search Engine and Club/Organisation/Venue Directory helps local residents find a range of physical activity, sport and wellbeing opportunities across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, including clubs/groups, parks/open spaces and activity sessions near them. Ensure you are promoting your organisation and opportunities by visiting our 'Promote your Club/Organisation/Venue page'.
We have a role to support local healthcare professionals to learn more about how physical activity can make a difference, improve people's lives and our Active Medicine and Active Practices sections support this.
Residents can also receive personalised support from their Local Physical Activity Services to help them move more.
