Nominate your 2015 Get Inspired Unsung Hero

Do you know someone who inspires people to get involved in playing sport in their community?

It could be a person who gives up their time to encourage others to take part, or someone who is helping to unearth a champion of the future, or maybe they are the ones who keep a local team or club going.

The BBC Get Inspired Unsung Hero award, which has been running since 2003, recognises the remarkable achievements of people throughout the UK.

As you may remember, last years national BBC Get Inspired Unsung Hero Award went to local swimming teacher Jill Stidever. The 77-year-old, who lives near Hinckley in Leicestershire, was humbled and extremely emotional as she was presented the award at the 2015 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Celebration at The SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

It is clear that Leicestershire has an abundance of Unsung Heroes as Jill follows in the footsteps of Sue and Jim Houghton who founded and continue to develop Sport in Desford and won the National BBC Unsung Hero Award in 2012. Colin Magee, Sailing Instructor at Bosworth Water and instructor on the local Sportivate scheme, won the East Midlands Regional Award in 2013.

The nomination period for the 2015 awards is now open. You can download this nomination form and send it to the address provided.
