Hinckley & Bosworth ping their way to double victory in School Games Table Tennis!

Year 5/6 Girls & Boys Table Tennis School Games Super-Series Final

The 2016/17 Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games got underway on Wednesday 23rd November, with Table Tennis County Finals held at Knighton Park Table Tennis Club.

9 Boys and 9 Girls teams were representing their School Sport & Physical Activity Network (SSPAN) in the hope of being crowned Year 5/6 County Champions and claim the first victories of the school year.

Teams will be competing for their School Sport & Physical Activity Network (SSPAN) in the hope of being crowned county Champions.

In closely fought finals, Hinckley & Bosworth claimed both titles with St Peter's CE Primary School, Market Bosworth winning the Girls competition and Burbage Junior School claiming the Champions Trophy and Gold Medals in the Boys competition.

In addition to be crowned Year 5/6 County Champions, the Teams were also competing for the 'Spirit of the Games' Award, recognising the Teams that best represented the School Games Values of - Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork.

The Year 5/6 Girls Spirit of the Games Award went to Blaby & Harborough (Little Bowden Primary School) and the Boys was presented to North West Leicestershire (Ashby Willesley Primary School).

The Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games, now in its seventh year, is part of the national 'School Games Programme' that is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire young people to take part in more competitive school sport. It is open to all young people aged 6-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds from every school across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.

Delivered locally by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) and the 10 School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs), the Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games provides schools the chance to boost their existing work in school sport to create a year-round calendar of competition for all students.
