The #BigThankYou 2016!

Sports volunteers will be in the spotlight once again at BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016 through #BigThankYou – the UK's biggest celebration of sports volunteers.

On the weekend of 17-18 December 2016, sports and recreation clubs from around the UK will be sending, shouting, tweeting and posting their photos and thanks to the amazing volunteers that make sport happen in all of our communities. We need you to be part of it – so save the date!

On Sunday 18 December, the celebration will culminate on the red carpet at BBC Sports Personality of the Year in Birmingham – when celebrities and athletes will surprise a host of nominated volunteers with a call to say a #BigThankYou.

How you can get involved with #BigThankYou:

1. Nominate a volunteer: If you know someone who does that little bit extra to make sport happen nominate them for a chance to get a call from their sporting hero. Please register their details at www.joininuk.org/nominate-volunteer-big-thank-you-call/ by Sunday 11th December 2016.

1. Celebrate your Volunteers: In the build up to 18 December, why not celebrate the outstanding volunteers at your club by sharing their stories, posting pictures and thanking them using #BigThankYou on social media.
