Nominate Now - British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA)

The BEDSAs provide a unique opportunity to recognise and reward sporting excellence among Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) sportsmen and women, to help increase sports participation by BAME communities and inspire the next generation of sporting talent. There are 12 categories in total you can choose from:

• Young Sports Person of the Year Award
• Unsung Hero Award
• Coach of the Year Award
• Inspirational Performance of the Year Award
• Community Sports Project of the Year Award
• Sportsman of the Year Award
• Sportswoman of the Year Award
• Lifetime Achievement Award
• Connecting Communities Award

The nomination process is straightforward, but to do justice to the person, project or club you are nominating, please follow this advice:

• Check the judging criteria to ensure you're making a nomination in the right category
• Ensure the nominee is from a British BAME background as determined by National Office of Statistics categories. i.e. British Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, other Asian) , British Black/African/Caribbean , Mixed multiple ethnic group, Other ethnic group (e.g. Arab, Polish)
• Follow the golden rule of journalism and tell the story about achievement and impact in your first paragraph of Section 3 of the Nomination Form, providing further detail to back this up
• Read the "Nominee Criteria" bullet points and ensure you cover each of these in your nomination
• Bring the nomination to life with examples. E.g.How a real difference has been made, preferably with statistics / results and quotes from relevant people/organisations
• Include evidence of any legacy within the sport or local environment. This could be through lasting opportunities available to participants or a long-term enhancement to the sport.
• If appropriate, use the Additional supporting information box for any further detail which makes your candidate/project/club stand out from all the others who have been nominated
• The judging panel can only take into account information on the nomination form, so please don't include any attachments.
