Future Focus 2020 - Resiliance and Recovery

Future Focus 2020 - Resilience & Recovery

VAL's annual conference for the Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise Sector (VCSE) in Leicester and Leicestershire is going virtual this year, with all delivery being through zoom. Taking place over three days, it is now live and open for bookings.

The theme of resilience and recovery has been chosen because as we know the sector has been hit hard by the pandemic, even though a huge number of charities and individuals have been absolute heroes in giving their time and resources to help local communities. Now is the time to focus on how we can get the sector back on its feet and future-proof VCSE organisations as much as possible whilst we still face an uncertain future.

Day 1: Funding - Tuesday 13 October
Come and talk to us about funding and how it has changed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Learn from some of the experts in this field and discover how funding applications have evolved.

Day 2: Adapting - Wednesday 14 October
Covid-19 has forced us to change the way we work
- Listen to VCSE sector groups sharing their experience of how they have adapted to new ways of working and what affect it has had on their organisation.

Day 3: Future Proofing - Thursday 15 October
To stay relevant in a fast-changing world, we must rethink how to stay effective and up tp speed.
Learn new ways of how to future proof along with key lessons that orgnaistions can take post-pandemic.

Some of the workshops over the three days include:

  • Creating a positive legacy in our communities after COVID
  • Successful grant applications in a post COVID world
  • Developing your leadership online
  • "You are your greatest resource"
  • Mental health matters: the key to a healthier future

As well as this, there will be some keynote speakers featuring each day who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the charity and volunteer sector to give their own insight. Some of these speakers include; Gary Beharrell (Regional Manager for Lloyds Bank Foundation), Kellie Charge (Fundraising & Events Manager for Bodie Hodges Foundation), Linda Jones (Chair of VAL's Trustee Board) Zoheb Shariff (Chief Executive, Mosaic).

You can book individual workshops here, or visit the website first for more information surrounding the conference this year.
