BBC Sports Personality of the Year's Unsung Hero award has returned for 2021

Nominations for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year's Unsung Hero Award 2021 are now open.

The BBC are recognising the best volunteers in sport and activity whose efforts are making a difference to the communities within Great Britain. If you know anyone in Leicestershire, Leicester or Rutland who has made a great difference in your area and deserves to be the Unsung Hero of 2021, then make sure you nominate them here for a chance of winning.

To enter online for the Unsung Hero Award, your hero must be 16 or older. To nominate your Unsung Hero, you must be over 18 or have consent from someone over 18. Nominations are open until 23:59pm on Sunday 17th October 2021. Entries can either be video or written submissions.

Your Unsung Heroes from Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland will be judged by your BBC nation or region and 15 winners are announced at this stage.

The 12 English winners join the national winners from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales for a final judging panel, of current and former sports stars and people active in sports volunteering.

The winners of the final will be announced live at the Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
