Volunteering opportunities are still available for the 2022 School Games!

There are still volunteering opportunities for the 2022 School Games at Loughborough University from September 1st - 4th 2022!

About the Games

The 2022 School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK's elite athletes of school age and the aim is to create an inspirational and motivational setting, that not only provides our elite young sports people with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport.
The competition reinforces the experience of multi-sport events like the Olympic and Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

Now in its 15th year, the event creates an inspirational and motivational setting to not only provide young athletes with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest level, but also to support their developmental journeys and those of coaches, officials and event staff involved.

The below link is a trailer for this year and brings to life the high energy developmental environment staff will be supporting to create by getting involved.

Who will be competing

Ten National Governing Bodies of Sport are involved in the planning and running of their competitions at this event. Of the ten sports, two of them, Athletics & Triathlon, incorporate disability events, and two of them, Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Tennis are Paralympic only sports. The remainder of the sports are, BMX, Cycling, Hockey, Modern Pentathlon, Netball and Women`s Cricket.

Around 1,200 of the nation`s finest young sports stars will participate in this event.
This will be 5th time that the School Games has been held on the University Campus, with the previous Games being held in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021.

This is where you come in!

For School Games to successfully deliver the event, they need around 200 volunteers, who will act as representatives for the event, and so they are looking for friendly, outgoing and reliable volunteers to fulfill a variety of roles.

It is through this event that School Games aim to reward and recognise a diverse workforce of skilled, trained and enthusiastic volunteers and inspire them to continue their volunteering journey beyond this event.

For the majority of roles, no specific experience is required, as training (including safeguarding training) and briefings will take place prior to the event to ensure that you are fully prepared for your role and responsibilities, you will also be required to complete the relevant checks.

As a volunteer you will receive School Games branded event kit and a packed lunch during your shifts.

Registration

Registration for volunteering at the School Games opened on 4th April 2022 and they would like to have as many local people as possible volunteering at this event.

As School Games are looking to recruit a large number of volunteers, they would therefore very much value your help in volunteering for this event.
