Escape-PAIN creator to showcase Active Charnwood's programme success

Clinical Director, Professor Mike Hurley, is set to share the ESCAPE-pain work and participant outcomes from Leicestershire with the Orthopaedic Research UK Board (ORUK)

Professor Hurley is an Emeritus Professor at the Population Health Research Institute, St George's University of London and Emeritus Professor at Kingston University. He is also the Clinical Director of ESCAPE-pain at Orthopaedic Research UK.

Outcomes include 85% of their participants have stated they are in less pain thanks to the programme. Meet Michael, a participant attending ESCAPE-pain who says,

"It was brilliant, I felt better and better after every session...through ESCAPE-pain I can carry on doing my job and I've still got my livelihood"

Many others have reported further benefits including:

'I can now balance on both legs and can come down the stairs with confidence. I have also lost 1 stone in weight.'

Active Charnwood deliver ESCAPE-pain for hip and knee pain in Loughborough. They are part of a countywide pilot in Leicestershire working in partnership with Active Together and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust MSK Physiotherapy Service.
