Active Together are committed to ensuring that everyone is able to receive a high quality experience in sport and physical activity and be treated with respect.

Within all programmes Active Together will champion equality and good practice to ensure that sport and physical activity is delivered in an appropriate environment to enable all to participate irrespective of their sexual orientation.

As part of our approach, Active Together is pleased to be working in conjunction with other sports organisations which form the SportPark Network for LGBT+ Inclusion. This network initiated by the Youth Sport, meets on a regular basis to advocate positive working policy and practise along with providing ongoing support around awareness raising and guidance for deliverers of sport and physical activity.

Pride In Our Workforce Survey - Engerise Me

Energise Me (Active Partnership for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight) have opened their Pride in our Workforce survey.

The aim of this work is to explore the impact that the workforce has on LGBT participation in physical activity and sport.

The survey will help them to understand these 3 research objectives: (*Workforce: Anyone involved in leading, supporting or delivering physical activity or sport)

  • The role the workforce* plays in the LGBT community accessing physical activity & sport and how the workforce affects and influences their experience as a participant.
  • How the actual and perceived barriers to participation can be identified and overcome by a workforce which has the skills, competencies & behaviours needed to engage the LGBT community, to increase participation in high-quality physical activity experiences.
  • Whether the current workforce is representative of our local population and, if not, how we can increase the number of people from the LGBT community within the workforce.
