International Walk to School Month

Making the walk to school safer and easier!

About This Campaign

Every October is International Walk to School Month - and this year we are looking at how we make the Walk to School safer and easier.

FIVE-DAY WALKING CHALLENGE

Our Five-day Walking Challenge is the perfect activity to celebrate International Walk to School Month - order now and start your challenge any week that suits your school.

The classrooms packs and activities are built to make the pupils feel empowered to change their walking environment for the better: they experience first hand the importance of walking to school.

This year is Living Streets' 90th anniversary, so we have decided to take pupils on a special walking journey re-tracing the steps of our greatest achievements over the course of the last 90 years.

HAPPY SHOESDAY

Happy Shoesday is our fundraising event, raising money to create safer streets for all. Start the new school year with the right step - register to take part on Tuesday 1 October. On the day, children walk to school in their happy shoes and donate a suggested donation of £1 towards our charitable work to create safer streets for all.

Sign your school up today and help raise funds for Living Streets who have been working to make streets safer for all since 1929.

WHY IS FUNDRAISING FOR ROAD SAFETY SO URGENT?

More than a third of parents' biggest concern is overcrowding at the school gates. In 2017, 38% of children killed on our roads were pedestrians. Last year, this rose to over half (58%). We need to make our streets safer for children walking.
