World Alzheimer's Month: 1st - 30th September
World Alzheimer's Month is a global opportunity to raise awareness around, educate, encourage support of and demystify dementia.
About This Campaign
This year's theme, 'Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer's,' continues on from the 2021 campaign, which focused on diagnosis, the warning signs of dementia, the continued effect of COVID-19 on the global dementia community and more.
The specific symptoms a person living with dementia experiences will depend upon what parts of the brain are affected and/or the specific disease that is causing their dementia. Symptoms may include:
- loss of memory
- difficulty in finding the right words or understanding what people are saying
- difficulty in performing previously routine tasks
- personality and mood changes
