This event will engage local sport sector businesses, clubs and organisations and connect them to the leading work being developed and delivered through De Montfort University on the Net Zero agenda, as well as a wider peer network and other organisations committed to reducing the carbon footprint of the local sports sector.

This cross sector collaboration will enhance the resilience of these organisations and better prepare them for the decade ahead - creating a local green sporting network with experts in sustainability and experts in our communities – working together.

  • Part 1 – 45 minutes: · Welcome and sharing of events which have led to this point – Dr Mark Charlton · Inspiring insights and findings from research from DMU · Emissions – where do sports clubs carbon emissions come from? DMU and Community Projects
  • Part 2 – 45 minutes: Group Discussions. · Local Green Sports Network – Discussion about what a network could aspire to do for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. · Small table top discussions around key challenges and grouping them into themes. · Collating key themes and next steps.
