About MSc Studentship - Cricket

This 2 year post arises from the continuing expansion of the School of Sport & Exercise Science and is the continuation of an initiative to coach and mentor student athletes in a named sport (Cricket) and to contribute towards outreach, recruitment and sporting events, whilst also (to a lesser extent) supporting full time academic staff. The University has a clear focus on developing opportunities to develop student/athletes and this will form a significant part of this role.

The University of Worcester has a commitment to an inclusive approach to sport and offers a wide range of opportunities and experiences for students at both recreational and performance level. This is an exciting time to be involved in Cricket at the University of Worcester. The International Inclusive Cricket Education Centre (IICEC) is being built as part of the Health and Wellbeing hub on Severn Campus. The IICEC will be the world's first "inclusive" cricket education centre, open to players of all abilities and disabilities. In addition to this, the new Integrated Masters in Cricket Coaching and Management academic course will start in September (2022), we will welcome students from around the world with a passion for cricket coaching, management, and development. Student cricket is currently thriving, with the University's Men's Indoor Cricket team qualifying for the National BUCS Championship finals. Engagement with all levels of cricket will be critical.

The post includes registration for the School's taught Masters Degree programme and the completion of this will be a requirement. Expertise is sought in the area of coaching science and candidates are invited to specify areas of specialism. The person appointed will be allocated a mentor who will oversee coaching, teaching and administrative aspects of the role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone seeking to break into a career in Higher Education in a well-organised School.
