Rusty Rackets and Inclusive Tennis

Hinckley Town Tennis Club were supported by the Sport and Health Alliance to submit a bid to the "Shires Grant" to run a scheme to attract ex-players back to the tennis, they called this Rusty Rackets as it was hoped that people would get their old rackets out of the cupboard and have fun getting back into tennis.

This scheme proved so successful that over 60 people came down and were reintroduced to tennis and 18 players have joined the club. The club followed this up by bidding for a further grant to run weekly coaching sessions for special needs players, and this has again proved successful with a twenty week coaching scheme running at Hollycroft Park and Hinckley Tennis Club for special needs player who are really improving their skills and health.

"Through this funding we have welcomed so many ex-players and also beginners to our club. It has been a particular pleasure to meet and coach the special needs players and their carers".
