Honours shared in School Games’ Disability Sportshall Super-Series

Year 5/6 Girls & Boys Disability Sportshall School Games Super-Series Final

There was more than one winner in the latest School Games Super-Series final, with North West Leicestershire and East Leicestershire both picking up first place finishes.

In the KS3 final, Forest Way finished top out of the seven schools taking part, finishing ahead of North Charnwood's Maplewell Hall School. There was just an eight point gap between the schools, with Forest Way's tally of 104 seeing them over the line and into top spot.

They fell just short of making it a delightful double, as Crown Hills took victory for East Leicester. Finishing on 92 points, the KS4/5 group had a comfier 24 point cushion between them and the chasing pack, meaning glory was shared across two regions.

Held at Aylestone Leisure Centre, 12 schools competed across the two age disciplines in a number of different Sportshall activities. From running to jumping (with some throwing also in the mix), the three and a half hour event provided all participants with the opportunity to take part in an activity which appealed directly to them.

The Super-Series final also welcomed Go Gold athlete Elliott Powell. The sprinter was on hand to meet and greet the athletes, in addition to telling his story and helping to inspire the youngsters for whom sport could play a part in their own future.
