Join the LRS team!

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport are recruiting for three undergraduates to join our team.

The 6-12 month placements will be based at our office at Loughborough SportPark, based at Loughborough University. Joining the LRS team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills with real world experience of sport and sports development.

The three placement roles are:

  • Sports Development Assistant (School Sport)
  • Sports Development Assistant (Community Sport)
  • IT Systems Support Assistant (Enterprise & Innovation)

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport have a proud history of developing undergraduates, with the current students having the opportunity to take a hands on role and progress during their year out of university. The current placement students have been provided with the opportunity of working on School Games, Team Leicestershire, Go Gold and many other LRS programmes.

The voluntary positions are successful in setting the successful applicants for full-time employment following education, with flexible start and finishing times ideal for those early birds or late sleepers.

Bryany Cornish, who is six months into her role as Sports Development Assistant (Community Sport) said:

"Having the opportunity to work full time in a sport organisation such as Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport has provided me with invaluable experience that you cannot gain from simply studying a Sport related degree. With 12 months' experience under my belt, I feel like I will be in a stronger, more employable position than my peers when I graduate and more equipped to jump into the world of work.

I have been given the freedom to work on a range of different projects, from promoting Purposeful Physical Play in the Early Years up to our Feel Alive from 65 Campaign which saw a 95 year old receive an award for his continued participation in physical activity. From helping to coordinate the 'This Girl Can' charity night, to overseeing the GO GOLD Talented Athlete Fund, you start to see the true impact that physical activity and sport has on people and in the community."

Start dates for the three placements are negotiable but applicants must be studying towards a degree to be eligible. To find out about the roles and to apply, visit the link below.
