William Bell makes the GB Swimming Team for the European Junior Championships

18th Feb 2018: Majorca Training Camp

We will travel to Scotland for the British Trials within the next two weeks and the camp in Majorca was part of the final preparations. I worked hard! 60,000 meters during the week with 1 session cancelled due to bad weather (so we completed a 6k walk instead). The lactate set was tough, although it was good to capture a little sun at the state of the at facilities at Best Camp.

9th Mar, 2018: British Championships/Edinburgh International Swim Meet 2018

I was relieved I finally made it to Edinburgh last week during such bad weather, the drive being a tremendous challenge! This didn't put me off from my performance as I made an impressive 9 sec PB, meaning I was the 2nd fastest Junior (18 and under) 1500 free. A PB in the 400 free meant 3rd place in the Junior final and a 200 IM PB meant 2nd place in another Junior final. New PB times for 100 and 200 free. All round, I finished a very tiring week with 4th in the 400 IM open final. Not a PB but very close to the time I raced in Amiens.

9th March 2018: European Junior Championships, Helsinki, Finland July 2018

Words cannot express how excited I am to have been selected to represent Great Britain at this major championship. Thank you to all who have supported me and a special thank you to my coach Jamie Evans. Can't wait to compete with this 30 strong team of U18 swimmers. This is my first European Juniors and I am hoping to learn from the older team members.

Thank you to all at Go Gold for continued support this year. This award allows for meet entries throughout the season and so I am very grateful.

As a GOGOLD athlete, we will be closely following and supporting William Bell as he approaches his championships in Finland during Finland. Good luck William!
