GB Tennis Star Danny Sapsford Volunteers to Help People with Special Needs

Danny Sapsford, GB Davis Cup player, visited Hinckley Town Tennis Club on Friday 16^th March to undertake a three hour training session to support the clubs coaches and volunteers get more people with special needs playing the game.

Danny played on the ATP Tour from 1987-1999, reaching a career high ATP singles ranking of 170 and 83 in doubles and represented Great Britain in the Davis Cup from 1990-95. Danny competed in all 4 Grand Slams with his best performance coming at Wimbledon '99 where he made the 3rd Round before losing to eventual champion, Pete Sampras. Danny co-founded Bright Ideas for Tennis in 2013 and developed I Play 30 to encourage and support players with special needs play the game.

'I Play 30' are tennis activity sessions designed for adults and children with learning, sensory and physical disabilities, and friends and family are welcome to join in the sessions too. Each tennis activity sessions will be run by a qualified LTA coach and supported by club volunteers to ensure that participants are made welcome and enjoy the sessions.

Sessions will be run at Hinckley Tennis Club starting week commencing Monday 9^th April

Mondays 1.30pm - 2.30pm

Saturdays 12.30pm -1.30pm
