GO GOLD Athlete in the Spotlight: Carys O'Reilly

Commitment, determination and leadership is what spark swimming GoGold athlete Carys O'Reilly as she eyes an Olympic Gold medal in a successful adventure to come!

1) What is your go to pre training snack?

Bananas and flapjack

2) What made you pick your sport?

My swimming teacher said I was nippy and asked me to join swimming a club

3) How do you think you would spend your time if you didn't do your sport?

If I didn't do swimming I would be a runner as I won the schools cross country county championships when I was younger.

4) Do you have any pets? If yes what pets and what are their names?

Yes I have 2 guinea pigs, coco and Sasha, some fish and the 2 family dogs.

5) What would be your dream job if not a professional athlete?

I'm not quite sure it would probably be something to do with sports or animals

6) What qualities do you think are important to have as a role model in your sport?

Commitment, determination and leadership

7) What do you enjoy most about your sport?

Competing and visiting new places

8) What is your long term goal in your sport?

To win an Olympic gold medal

9) What is the best part about competing?

Winning and getting new PB's

10) Who is you favourite sports hero?

I don't really have one in all honesty

11) What do you like about training?

Being with like minded people

12) What do you dislike about training?

The early mornings
