LIGHTNING TO STRIKE UP INTEREST IN WOMEN'S CRICKET

Cricket bosses will be hoping a touch of lightning will strike up interest in the sport among women and girls in the Leicestershire community.

As part of Women's Big Cricket Month, a nationwide campaign aiming to encourage greater participation in the sport among women and girls, the Number 1 women's T20 side in the East Midlands are coming to town.

It's been announced that Leicestershire County Cricket Club will be hosting Lightning Cricket at the Uptonsteel County Ground on Saturday, July 10th.

The fixture will see Lightning Cricket take on Central Sparks in a T20 match as part of the new Women's Regional T20 competition.

"The interest in cricket among female spectators is growing across the country and it is campaigns like Women's Big Cricket Month that are really helping to get more women and girls involved in either playing or watching the sport," said Sean Jarvis, CEO of LCCC.

"We'd love to see a large female following at the ground cheering on Lightning Cricket as the new T20 format structure has created a wave of excitement in women's cricket. This is a great opportunity to see the Number One women's team in the East Midlands."

The fixture begins at 2:30pm on Saturday, 10 July 2021, with tickets available to purchase now through Ticketmaster. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 regulations, the capacity of the ground will be restricted to ensure the health and safety of all players, staff and spectators. So don't miss out, book today at Leicestershire CCC Website.
