Energy and Carbon – information and support to help you and your organisation

There are a number of products and services which sport businesses and organisations may benefit from in order to tackle increased running costs, whilst also taking steps to have a positive impact on the environment.

Energy for Business

The capital grant, delivered by the Energy Innovation and Collaboration team through 'Energy for Business', is for businesses who wish to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions or who are implementing sustainable energy technologies.

Innovation for Good

The University of Leicester Innovation for Good scheme that, following a sustainability audit, provides your business with a detailed report on your social impact and potential savings in energy, water and waste.

EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets

An EV infrastructure grant gives SMEs money off the cost of wider building and installation work that's needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets. The work can be for sockets you want to install now and in the future. You can get up to £15,000 or 75% off the cost of the work. The amount depends on how many parking spaces the work covers.

  • You can receive up to 5 grants across 5 different sites. This grant may be used in combination with the Workplace Charging Scheme.

Carbon Footprint

Carbon Trust have a Carbon Footprint Calculator which can help SMEs take the first steps in measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions and therefore reducing energy cost.

NatWest Carbon planner can also be used to discover a more sustainable future for your business and allow you to focus resources on priorities to save you money.

British Business Bank – Covers the benefits of net zero and ESG, sustainability tools and calculators for small businesses, how to measure your carbon footprint.

Energy Saving Trust – Examples of support include a guide on saving energy in the workplace, as well as a map of funded projects to support individuals.

Ofgem provide help on businesses energy complaints, microbusiness gas or electricity and advice on energy efficiency schemes. Advice on changing suppliers, if your supplier goes bust, types of business energy contracts and much more.

Citizen's Advice are offering advisory information to small firms in order to ensure everyone is entitled to part of the government's Energy Bill Relief Scheme.
