Generation Charnwood Employability Conference – Owning your future

In an exciting initiative, 8 Charnwood Schools united a cohort of over 80 enthusiastic students to participate in a groundbreaking employability conference aimed at delving into the intricacies of skills and behaviours essential for success in the professional world.

What sets this event apart from others, is the robust support from key local employers in Charnwood's vibrant physical activity and sports sector. These influential figures actively engaged in conversations with students during the conference, fostering an environment where everyone plays a pivotal role in guiding students towards a successful future in the workforce.

Throughout the day, discussions revolved around crucial life skills such as teamwork, verbal communication, resilience, hard work, and reliability. The emphasis on these qualities underscores the commitment to preparing students for the challenges of the professional landscape. The collective next step is to embrace proactivity, delve deeper into the world of work, and earnestly work towards taking ownership of our future pathways.

Excitingly, teachers and schools can also access additional resources via Generation Charnwood Programme, including fully funded programmes that can be seamlessly integrated into the school curriculum. These programmes empower secondary school students to lead impactful social action projects within the local community, fostering a sense of responsibility and community engagement.

The conference has provided students with insight into various career paths, details about voluntary opportunities and valuable local experiences, all of which will better equip them for the professional world, regardless of the sector they choose to pursue. For students, a wealth of information awaits, particularly in the dynamic physical activity and sports sector.

The Youth Sport Trust and Active Together would like to thank everyone involved in the day.
