Early-stage Parkinson’s disease: sport and activity programme

A pilot project by Inspire2tri and funded by Parkinson's UK, is seeking three participants for a programme which focuses on sporty individuals and athletes with early-stage Parkinson's disease.

The pilot will include creating a supportive plan to manage and evolve fitness and sporting goals.

To start, the programme will involve an initial analysis, followed by 12 weeks of tailored engagement, as well as a concluding review with go-forward advice.

The objective is to better understand the way in which personal Parkinson's disease symptoms impact capability to perform in a chosen sport or activity, both now and into the near future and to explore relevant and timely strategies to reduce or mitigate the impact by maximising physical condition (e.g. strength, balance, aerobic fitness etc) and by adjusting and/or better controlling the demands of performing in a chosen sporting/fitness environment.

Inspire2tri is located in Rutland county.
