This report provides practitioners, commissioners, and policy makers with an understanding of the factors that influence successful integration and implementation of physical activity promotion in primary and secondary care.

This report provides practitioners, commissioners, and policy makers with an understanding of the factors that influence successful integration and implementation of physical activity promotion in primary and secondary care. Importantly it focuses on understanding how to integrate physical activity promotion into preventative and treatment care and support for people living with one or more long-term conditions.

It presents a rapid review of the evidence and learning from practice-based examples, which provides a valuable contribution to understanding:

  • the enablers that can lead to successful integration and implementation of physical activity promotion
  • what has or hasn't worked, and why

The document concludes with a full set of recommendations for practitioners, commissioners, and policy makers to consider when designing services and interventions locally.
