Loughborough College look to promote School Sport Apprenticeship

Loughborough College are hosting briefings on the School Sport Apprenticeship programme. The programme was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in February 2013 and has seen outstanding success rates with 62% gaining related employment, 25% progressing to University and 13% gaining employment in another industry following the apprenticeship.

The briefings provide a chance for school leaders to find out about how the programme works, the costs and logistics of hiring a young person and good practice from schools that have been involved in the programme. IMPACT Apprenticeships our training partner will be on hand to offer guidance in the recruitment and management of apprentices. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions too.

If you have considered a School Sport Apprentice previously or know nothing about the programme and would like to find out more, then, register for one of the briefings below. If you cannot attend the briefings but would still like further information, please get in touch.

The dates of the briefings are:

Date: Wednesday 15th March 2017
Date: Thursday 6th April 2017

Held at The Little Space at Loughborough College Hub, the briefing will run from 10-11:30 on both of the dates.
To register your spot, follow the attachment on this article with details on how you can get in contact.

The recruitment process for 2017/18 is set to start with a generic application opening soon, interviews held during the summer term and successful candidates completing an intensive initial training programme during the summer holidays before starting with their schools in September 2017.

School Sport Apprentices are employed directly by their host school or through IMPACT Employment Solutions (partner apprenticeship agency) to support the delivery of PE and School Sport.

Apprentices will attend college 1 day per week to undertake professional qualifications whilst learning the role of a PE coach. The apprenticeship is a one-year contract and starts with a summer training programme every July.

Loughborough College works alongside schools to recruit the ideal candidate. Positions are advertised through our website https://www.loucoll.ac.uk/school-sport-apprenticeships as well as on the national apprenticeship website and many local channels. You can also visit our twitter account @Loucollsportapp and schools can place the advert on their own website and social media account.

Positions are advertised as soon as schools sign up to the programme. Shortlisting and the first round of interviews are undertaken by Loughborough College. Each school will then interview 1-3 candidates for their position and make the final decision on appointments. Interviews take place all through the spring and summer terms with final school interviews taking place in the summer term.
