Four more for Team Leicestershire Rugby finals

The second part of the Team Leicestershire rugby final takes place today, with four more finals edging the season closer to an end.

To be held at Leicester Grammar School, last week saw 10 schools battle it out for five trophies across ages 14 & 15, with the older ages set to face off this evening.

The Team Leicestershire campaign is well over halfway through, with finals already played in: table tennis, netball, hockey, futsal, badminton and football. But there is still plenty to come though.

Basketball takes place this Sunday at the Leicester Community Sports Arena and will be followed by Girls Football at the start of May. And bringing the year to a close will be cricket, which is set to take place in June – peak cricket season.

The full list of finals are:

U16 County Plate Final

Hinckley Academy & John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre vs The Lancaster School

Hinckley Academy & John Cleveland will likely start as favourites having put 80 points past The Martin High School in the semi-final.

U16 County Cup Final

Ashby School vs Lutterworth High School

Luttwerworth High School eased past De Lisle in the last four in a 47-5 rout.

U18 County Cup Final

Leicester Grammar School vs Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College

A 24-7 victory in the semi-final against Brooksby Melton College sealed Welbeck's spot in the final.

U18 County Plate Final

Robert Smyth Academy vs Ashby School

Ashby put 24 points past Beauchamp without conceding on their way to the final. Robert Smyth beat Ratcliffe 15-5 in a low scoring affair.

Last week's finals saw victories for: Gartree High School, The Kibworth School, Loughborough Grammar School and Welland Park Academy. There were two winners in the Under 15 Plate, with Catmose College and Hastings High School seeing out a 10-10 draw after the end of normal time. And with extra time not played, the victory was shared.

Team Leicestershire is the umbrella Association for all traditional competitive school sport in secondary schools across Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.
