GO GOLD Athlete of the Week: Sarah Edwards

Tell us one thing we don't know about you? I am colour-blind and was once unable to play a match as I couldn't tell the difference between the court and the line markings which was quite embarrassing.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be? If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life it would probably be fajitas, as since moving to University they have become a very common meal as they're so easy to make and aren't really bad for me!

What has been your biggest challenge? My biggest challenge so far has been returning to a high level of competition after fracturing my back last year. I was unable to train for around 3 months which is very tough mentally, but i was able to return to training and the following weekend compete in the biggest tournament of the University season which was a huge challenge.

What's the best thing that your sport has enabled you to do? My sport has enabled me to travel to many different countries and compete which is a great experience. Currently it is allowing me to complete my three years at university as a student athlete which means I am able to train and compete at a high level whilst also finishing my studies.

What is your proudest accomplishment (doesn't have to be sport related)? My proudest accomplishment so far was a few years back in 2013 when I was first selected to compete internationally for the England U19 team at age 16.

How would your friends describe you? My friends would probably describe me as being fairly down to earth and sociable and having the ability to laugh at my own jokes because nobody else will haha!

Do you have anything else that you'd like us to know? I am aiming to get a contract with a professional team in Europe within a couple of years of graduating from University, which would be a great achievement for me!
