Women dance their way to fitness

On Friday 9th March, the third annual Leicester-Shire & Rutland This Girl Can Charity Night Out took place at Brockington College in Enderby.

170 women and girls enjoyed a night out of fun and fitness, whilst helping to raise £625 for The Joe Humphries Memorial Trust.

During the evening, the women had the opportunity to try new activities such as Konga, Socacise, Pilates, BodyCombat, Pound and Netball, during the taster sessions available.

The disco lights were then turned on, the volume turned up, and the ladies got in the mood for a party with the Clubbercise session - raving with their glow sticks to classic and the latest chart hits.

The Joe Humphries Memorial Trust has been set up to: break the 'silence' on SADS, create a new generation of young life savers and inspire young people. The Trust was set up after the tragic loss of Joe Humphries who died while out jogging with his friend in October 2012.

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport and partners are advocating the countywide This Girl Can campaign with the aim to encourage more women and girls to get involved and enjoy sport and exercise.

This Girl Can is a celebration of active women who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets. Helping women to overcome the fear of judgement that is stopping too many women and girls from joining in.
