Leicester Hockey Club launch crowdfunding campaign to 'Switch the Pitch'

Leicester Hockey Club are in urgent need to switch their deteriorated sand-based pitch as part of a project to turn St Margaret's Pastures Sports Centre into a thriving modern city sports hub for everyone to access.

Thanks to a grant received from Mick George in partnership with Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport they will now be able to make significant improvements to the clubs facilities.

Sarah Treanor, the Club's Vice President for Development, says: "We are so pleased to be a recipient of a Mick George Sports Award in partnership with Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport. St Margaret's Pastures Sports Centre requires significant investment to transform it into a modern fit for purpose and sustainable multi-sports venue that will encourage more people to adopt more active lifestyles and address the key health and well-being issues in the city. Our grant will enable us to make safety improvements to the pavilion flooring so that we can accommodate more users and meet the wide demands expected of an inclusive city sports facility. "

The club have also recently set up a crowdfunding page through SpaceHive which they hope will raise enough money to update their current pitch with an inspirational top quality pitch for everyone to use.
