On Wednesday, 5th February the first Workplace Competition of 2020 took place at Charnwood College, with six teams in attendance (LRS, Newby Castleman, Mellor School, Griffydam Primary School, Tarmac Ltd and NWLSSP) gearing up for a game of one of the world's most popular team sports - Volleyball!
The competition comprised of a round-robin format, with all the teams getting the opportunity to face each other to decide the true champions!
As the teams arrived, they were eager to practice their best sets, serves and digs to be in with chance of winning the coveted Workplace Volleyball Champion title!
The whistle was blown and the action began, with some cracking games, demonstrating not only some fantastic play, with expert blocking and spiking, but also great spirit and strength as a team.
LRS got off to a strong start in their first round against Mellor Team A (5:16) as did Tarmac Ltd against Mellor Team B (2:16), but they were quickly over taken by the seemingly unstoppable North West Leicestershire, with no losses so far! Until they faced Griffydam Primary School, who put on a showstopping performance to defeat the current leaders!
However, in the final rounds it was clear NWLSSP had their eyes on the prize and regained their winning streak as they stormed into the lead once again digging their way to victory! In second place was Griffydam Primary School who put on a solid performance in their last game against LRS (12:7), and in a very respectable third place were Tarmac Ltd.
