Team Leicestershire: U13 Boys Table Tennis Finals

This week we held the U13 Team Leicestershire Table Tennis County Finals Events at Knighton Park Table Tennis Club. Team Leicestershire provides opportunities for young people who aspire towards further progression and success in sport & physical activity by providing the traditional competitive school sport offer across Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.

4 teams who had all won their local area qualifiers competed to become county champions. Thank you and congratulations to everyone that took part. The standard of table tennis was extremely high and it was a very close competition. Lots of games went beyond 11 points, with one particularly intense game eventually being won by 20 points to 18! We'd also like to congratulate all the participants for the outstanding sportsmanship and respect they shown towards their opponents and the umpires throughout the event. East Leicester met West Leicester in a fantastic final as Rushey Mead took on Fulhurst, whilst Robert Smyth and Gartree battled it out for the bronze medal.

The final standings for the events were:

U16 Boys

1. Rushey Mead (East Leicester)
2. Fulhurst (West Leicester)
3. Robert Smyth (B&H)
4. Gartree (O&W)

Good luck to Rushey Mead who will go on to represent Leicestershire and Rutland at the Regional Competition!
