Team Leicestershire: U13 Boys Table Tennis Finals

The Team Leicestershire Under 13 Boys Table Tennis County Finals were held at Knighton Park Table Tennis Centre in November. Team Leicestershire provides opportunities for young people who aspire towards further progression and success in sport and physical activity by providing a traditional competitive school sport offer across Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.

Thank you and congratulations to everyone that took part, it was great to see so many aspiring players showcasing their fantastic table tennis skills. All the teams who attended on the night had progressed to this stage of the competition by winning their local School Sport Partnership competition and were looking to go one step further and be crowned County Champions.

Each team played the other 4 schools in a round robin format, 8 single games per match. As always, the standard of table tennis was extremely high with some particularly impressive rallies taking place throughout the competition. All teams and players should be extremely proud of not only how they played, but also the level of sportsmanship and respect they demonstrated throughout the evening.

The final standings for each events were:

1. The Market Bosworth School (Hinckley & Bos)
2. Brook Mead Academy (West Leics)
3. Beauchamp College (Oadby & Wig)
4. Rushey Mead Academy (East Leics)
5. Robert Smyth (Blaby & Harb)

Congratulations again to all teams and well done to those who took home medals. Good luck to The Market Bosworth School who will go on to represent Leicestershire and Rutland at the Regional Competition!

Many thanks also go to Mike, Tim and Peter from the Leicestershire Schools Table Tennis Association and Knighton Park TTC for hosting us at these events, as well as all the staff who came along and helped umpire games.

We hope everyone enjoyed the tournament and hopefully we will see you again soon at a future Team Leicestershire County Final event.
