Leicestershire Schools Table Tennis Association - Schools Individual Championships 2023

The Leicestershire Schools Table Tennis Association were delighted to host a record 183 entries for these Championships held at Leicester Grammar School across two weekends in early December.

In the Under 11 age group, a total of 59 boys and 7 girls entered the first event. A busy morning of table tennis saw lots of good play by promising youngsters from several schools. Special mentions go to St Peters COE Market Bosworth who produced both champions but also St John the Baptist, Brocks Hill and Woodland Grange.

The following weekend there were 48 entries in the Under 13 boys, 53 in the Under 16 boys and 6 in the Under 19 boys. In the girl's competition, there were 5 girls in the Under 1, 4 girls in the Under 16 and 1 in the Under 19 girls. Many congratulations to The Market Bosworth School, Manor High, Rushey Mead and Leicester Grammar School, who were all heavily represented in each age group.

Overall, there was some fantastic play throughout with a lot of really competitive matches.

One noticeable example was Charles Rowell 's win over Satveer Chohan in the U13 boy's semi-final coming from 0-2 down to win the 3rd 15-13 and then the last 2 games. Great resilience and determination shown by both players.

The association would also like to thank Leicester Grammar School, as well as Active Together for supporting these events.

Finally, thanks go all the players for their enthusiasm, skill, and co-operation over both events. Thanks to all who have played in Team Leicestershire County events earlier in the year. As always, thank you to all the parents for their support.
