The 2021 Para Sport Festival was organised through the Melton Inclusive Sport & Physical Activity Steering Group. The festival aimed to provide an opportunity for the community to come together following the start of the pandemic, to get involved in local activities and to educate the community about the Paralympics and disability sport.
Fourteen clubs and organisations were involved in offering taster sessions and provided information about their sessions including wheelchair basketball, blind football, tennis and more!
Fifty people attended throughout the day including children and adults of varying abilities. The feedback was positive and 16 people have since transitioned to local clubs and groups.
This Case Study is taken from the Active Together Annual Review 21/22. The document provides a snapshot of the work of the Active Together Board, team and partners and what we have done in partnership to encourage the communities in Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland to be physically active and move more.
