Ashby School win at the Post 16 Table Tennis Finals

9 Teams from across Leicestershire, Leicester City & Rutland, took part in the first Team Leicestershire Final on 23/11/2015.

'Team Leicestershire' is the new umbrella Association for all traditional competitive school sport in secondary schools across Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.

The main aim of Team Leicestershire is to ensure that as many young people as possible are able to represent their school and compete in a variety of sports / competitions, both at a local level against neighbouring schools, but then with the opportunity to progress through to county finals.

Team Leicestershire also aims to re-ignite, support and profile our County Representative Sides, so that our most talented young people have the opportunity to represent their County with pride on a regional and national stage.

In a closely fought contest, it was Ashby School (North West Leicester) that took home the gold medals. Wigston College (Oadby & Wigston) came second, with Bosworth Academy (Hinckley & Bosworth) finishing in third position.

Results – Post 16 Boys:
• Winners ~ Ashby School - (North West Leicester)
• 2nd Place ~ Wigston College (Oadby & Wigston)
• 3rd Place ~ Bosworth Academy (Hinckley & Bosworth)
• 4th Place ~ Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College (West Leicester)

Every secondary school in Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland has affiliated to Team Leicestershire, which in turn affiliates them to 8 of our major School Sport Associations and their school competition programmes:

• Leicestershire Schools Badminton Association
• Leicestershire Schools Basketball Association
• Leicestershire & Rutland Schools Cricket Association
• Leicestershire & Rutland Schools Football Association
• Leicestershire & Rutland Hockey Association (Schools & Youth)
• Leicestershire County Netball Association
• Leicestershire Schools Rugby Football Union
• Leicestershire Schools Table Tennis Association

The affiliation also gives every school bespoke access to our online 'School Fixtures' Programme, where school staff can easily manage all fixtures and results.

The website can also be accessed by pupils and parents to view fixtures and results and the progression of their school teams to County Finals.
