GO GOLD Athlete of the Week: Lewis Kerrod

What are your hobbies outside of sport? As I can drive now I like to try out as many new things that I haven't done as I can. So, I'll often take a load of mates out and we'll do a variety of different things. I also own my own go-kart so whenever I get some free time I go down to the track to race it which is very exciting and I like to go on my ps4 for some downtime.

What is your favourite day of the week? Why? Saturday would have to be my favourite day of the week because it is the beginning of the weekend so once morning training has finished I can look forward to having some free time to spend that is not in the pool!

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? I'd probably be an eagle so that I could fly around all day and have a lot of fun.

Describe your typical day (including training, school etc.) I'd wake up at 4.15am to do my first training session of the day from 5-7am. Then I'd come back home and get ready for college. Some days I would spend all day there, others I wouldn't have to go in at all – it depends what lessons I have on. After that I'd come home and get ready to train again, from 4.30-6.30pm, do some land training after the pool session, go home, eat, chill out for a bit and then go bed.

Who is your biggest role model and why? My biggest role model is Lewis Hamilton because he manages to compete at the highest level in sport, win multiple times at the highest level, and still has time to do other things outside of his sport that he enjoys in life. He has a great balance in life and I aspire to be like that.

Do you have anything else that you'd like us to know? Will be competing at the Summer Nationals next week so hoping to make finals and maybe podium there. After that I'm definitely looking forward to some time off swimming and being able to go on holiday for a couple of weeks.
