GO GOLD Athlete of the Week: Candice Hall

Having impressed early on in her career, Candice Hall is turning her attentions to what is next in her swimming calendar. The Harborough athlete spoke to LRS to offer a little more insight about her life in and out of the water.

1. Can you describe your favourite training session?
Race pace, this is where you do so many 50's e.g. 30 x 50s and you have to hit your race speed as often as possible.

2. Where has your sport taken you so far in your career?
It has taken me to some amazing places all around the world either competing or training. I have been to places such as America, South Korea, Italy, France and Luxembourg

3. Describe your typical day (including training, school, etc.)
I wake up at 6.45, to be at the pool for 7.30am for pre-pool and then train from 8-10am. I normally have a gym session on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday 10-11ish. Then I have to rush into uni for a lecture! Then back to the pool for 3.30 and train 4-6pm.

4. What is your favourite thing to do at weekends?
Go out for a nice meal and then watch a musical on a Saturday night with my fam!

5. Who is your biggest role model and why?
Definitely Usain Bolt, because he is such a unique athlete with his personality and also what he has achieved in the sport is inspiring

6. Do you have anything else that you'd like us to know?
I love to have a little dance to myself in my room to entertain myself haha! Also swimming wise I am going to South Africa in November on a training camp for 2 and a half weeks with the Loughborough National Centre
