Ivanhoe and Ashby Outshine as Welland Park Academy settles for Runner Up in Team Leicestershire Hockey Titles

The Team Leicestershire County Finals in the Year 9/10 Girls & Boys Hockey took place on 15^th March, hosted by Ivanhoe College.

Compared to the reversed fixture of the year 7/8s back in January, the weather conditions were less harsh with milder weather on the evening.

Ivanhoe College were the favourites being on home soil with the girls' team making it to this stage.

A group styled, single robin tournament determined which team proved to be strongest as the teams all faced each other. Girl's hockey forged into two halves as Ivanhoe College and Welland Park Academy proved too much with sublime score lines over Dixie Grammar and Charnwood College.

Ivanhoe could easily have come runners up had they an inferior goal different to Welland Park, but it was well deserved by the hosts as they drew the crucial game they could not lose against Welland Park.

The boy's hockey finals involved a three-way heated battle featuring Welland Park Academy, Ashby School and Dixie Grammar. Ashby blew each opposition away with a whopping 14 goal difference after the two games played. Welland Park and Dixie Grammar were more evenly match with a contested score line 3-1 to Welland Park.
